To further develop our art curriculum offer to the pupils at Moor Row Primary School, we recently held an art themed week. Each class chose a local artist to focus upon to ensure cultural capital opportunities linked to the local area.

The purpose of the week was to focus upon gaps identified due to Covid and the implications of home learning. This enabled the children to engage with mediums they may not have had access to throughout lockdowns and for teachers to address gaps in learning/issues that had become apparent.

The impact of this was that the children were able to access and use resources such as charcoal, paint and pastels which were not readily available at home. This focus ensured they were able to develop their skills as artists. The children also learned about the lives of artists who based their work in the local area. This approach has ensured that the children at Moor Row Primary School are proud to be Cumbrian.
